Neighborhood

Located in historic Fort Hill (Highland Park), the center of Boston's Roxbury neighborhood. My home is in a wonderful & diverse urban residential/bedroom community. Steeped in history since the 1630, this hill has hosted figures such as several of the key founders of Harvard University, George Washington and Henry Knox during the Siege of Boston in the revolution, to the famous abolitionist William Llyod Garrison (whose home is close by and the water fountain in front of the house is designed in his image). After transforming into one of the nation's first streetcar suburbs, now Fort Hill is one of the most sought after and up and coming residential neighborhoods in the city with a diverse community of young professionals, working class and long time residents. The neighborhood is a history lover or architect's dream with every period represented. We have a progressive and engaged group of residents where one of the world's leading experts in urban farming resides, lots of public spaces, urban wilds (including our wild turkeys), community gardens, and has become city's foremost leader in passive houses and energy positive homes. From Wikipedia: "Today, Fort Hill is home to an ethnically and linguistically diverse community. Fort Hill has been recognized for its sizable population of residents with Irish, Puerto Rican, Dominican, German and Sub-Saharan African roots.[13] Over the last decade Fort Hill has experienced an influx of professionals, artists and students, many of whom attend Northeastern University, Massachusetts College of Art and Design or Wentworth Institute of Technology. Fort Hill is also often referred to as a neighborhood that is notable for having a high concentration of residents living with same-sex partners,[14][15] and has a history of its residents advocating for gay rights.[16]" My neighbors are wonderful and friendly, so please be sure to be friendly back and say hello to them as well. Other Details to Note

The house is actually as it seems in the photos everyday; well maintained common spaces, so I simply ask guests to clean after themselves to leave the common space in order. The Modern Bedroom is part of a 4 bedroom apartment, and shares a common bathroom next to it with two other guest bedrooms; which is cleaned frequently. (3 flights of stairs total) 1 Guest total maximum Our area is considered safe and quiet for Boston, but this is the city, and anything can happen anywhere at any time so I always like to tell people to have common sense in travels in the whole city. We are walking distance to many good cafes, bars, restaurants down Tremont st past the T (metro station) and a ~$8 Uber ride to the nightlife of the Back Bay. For more info on our location be sure to read the "Where you'll be" section on the listing for details πŸ‘‡πŸ½.

I really enjoyed my stay! I feel like I truly got to experience β€œliving” in Boston. Felt right at home and super close to the T, so you can explore Boston further. Jonathan was very responsive and flexible with my check in and check out times, as plans are always changing when traveling. The space was clean, organized, and inviting. You can tell a lot of thought has been put into the space to ensure a pleasant, stress-free stay. Everything was labeled and structured well. Definitely recommend for those traveling solo and I hope to be back in the future!

I loved my stay so much I didn’t want to leave! Jonathan was a great host, and he gave great instructions as to where everything was in the house. Additionally, his place is in a great location, and took me about 5-10 minutes to walk to the Orange line. I’ll definitely be back!

Logan Airport ✈: Uber / Lyft is the easiest way to and from the Airport, which takes 15-35 mins depending on traffic. For public transit, T, take an airport shuttle bus from your terminal to the Airport T subway station (blue line). Travel in-bound to State T station where you will need to get off and switch to the orange line in-bound. Get off at Roxbury Crossing, and walk up the hill in 5 mins. 40 mins. T (subway/metro) πŸš‡: The station is Roxbury Crossing 5 mins walk away and it's the 3rd stop to Back Bay 5 mins ride. Another 3 more stops from there takes you to Downtown Crossing 10 mins ride. Bikes 🚲: In the city we have Bluebikes public bike share program, $6 for a 24 hour pass or $12 for a 72 hour pass. I highly recommend this as a way to discover the city. Right at the T, subway station outside you'll see these bikes and the station is located on Boston's longest bike and walking path, the Southwest Corridor Park. 10 mins to Back Bay, 25 mins to Harvard Square. Personal bikes are not allowed inside, but there are bike poles for storage out front across from the brownstone. Check out the photo for reference. Walk πŸ‘£: 5-15 minutes walk to local restaurants, bars and grocery store. 15 minutes walking distance to Longwood Medical Area, Northeastern University, Museum of Fine Arts, etc and 25 minutes to Fenway Park, South End. Boston is a walking city where in 15 mins walk one neighborhood leads to another. Parking πŸš™: Plenty of free on street non permitted parking usually right next to the house. Uber / Lyft πŸš•: Very dependable and recommended compared to taxis which can unfortunately have terrible service, so I don't recommend taxis. Uber / Lyft is the easiest way to and from the Airport, which takes 15-35 mins depending on traffic.
